A CT exam is a non-invasive way of taking detailed pictures of the inside of your body. Computed Tomography, known as a CT or CAT scan, is a computer processed x-ray scan that is capable of depicting various internal body parts in much greater detail than a standard x-ray. CT scans have many uses, including the detection of strokes, head injuries, and lung and abdominal abnormalities. A CT scan provides exceptionally detailed images and can be an invaluable tool in the diagnosis and treatment of many ailments. The exam is extremely fast –often completed during a breath hold - and you are comfortably positioned during the scan.
